We are a huge community dedicated to improving the undergraduate experience of Science students at UBC. Running or applying is an excellent way to get involved: you can meet tons of great people, advocate for Science students, and start learning the ropes of leadership in university. Hiring links will be posted here when they are live, so read below for hiring dates.
Get Involved with the Society (only requires you to apply!) :
Hiring is on going and applications are due May 21, 2023 at 11:59 PM. Click here for a list of available positions as well as its corresponding CareerOnline links. Head to the Facebook event and Instagram post for further information and all the positions available.
Assistant to vice-presidents, committee chairs, and general committee positions are hired in the summer, in early to mid May. Positions are posted on CareersOnline, so keep your eyes peeled around May! We also usually have a Facebook event and Instagram post that has all positions available, so look out for an event that is typically named “SUS Executive Hiring 20XX [Summer]”. No prior experience is needed, but a cover letter and resume are.
General committee positions are hired in the fall, in early September. To apply, look for our Facebook event typically named “SUS Fall Hiring 20XX” around early September. Again, a cover letter and resume are submitted. No prior experience is needed!
Get Involved with Student Council (requires you to run in an election!):
The election process is relatively simple: get signatures and become nominated, campaign for votes, and then… get voted in!
We hold departmental elections for all Science majors to represent each department, starting early September.
We hold elections for the Science Student Senator, AMS Representatives, and Executive Team (Vice Presidents and President of the Society) starting early March.
