I’m Samantha So, a current Student Senator and AMS VP Academic, and I’m running for Science Student Senator!

With a new triennium (the 3-year cycle Senate operates on), I know my experience as a returning Senator will inform and strengthen the advocacy efforts of Student Senators, and provide guidance in aligning their goals to be strategic and effective.

As AMS VP Academic, I’m extremely familiar with the University’s structure and have established strong relationships with the University Administration, which will be instrumental for collaboration with stakeholders in our projects and goals.

Student advocacy experience:
★ Current Senator (Vice-Chair, Student Senate Caucus; 3 Senate Committees)
★ Current AMS VP Academic & University Affairs (30+ University committees)
★ Science AMS Representative (2015/2016)

My goals are:
★ Establishing an ad-hoc committee on Diversity, developing a Diversity Framework for Senate to work within
★ Ensuring tuition and curriculum consultations inform one another for fairer tuition and fees
★ Through Academic Policy Committee, ensuring timely approaches to projects like Fall Reading Break and streamlining academic concessions
★ Through Senate Curriculum committee, collaborating with the student representatives on the Faculty of Science Curriculum committee
★ Keep SUS Council and students up to date on pertinent Senate issues
