1. What is the main role of the Internal portfolio?
The main role of the Internal Portfolio is to make the SUS community feel welcomed, supported, and inclusive to best serve the science students. Working closely with elected Councilors and first years, the Internal Portfolio aims to build a strong, connected community open to all science students.
2. What committees fall under the Internal portfolio?
The First Year Committee (FYC) plays a large role in the Internal Portfolio. FYC aims to support and enhance the university experience of first-year science students by organizing various events throughout the year such as dances, study nights, and free food events. In addition, the Human Resources Committee aims to make SUS volunteers feel supported and well-trained with resources. If you are a SUS volunteer, it is our priority to make you feel fully appreciated and connected within the SUS community.
3. What can I look forward to from you?
If you’re a first-year student, you can apply to be a part of FYC in September or attend the many events open to you throughout the year! If you’re interested in getting more involved with SUS, you can represent your department as a SUS Councilor or First Year Rep by running in the Fall Elections or become a SUS Executive by running in the Spring Elections.
At the end of the year, the Science Student Recognition & Awards Night aims to recognize the outstanding achievements of Science Clubs, members of SUS, and other Science students who have contributed to making our faculty a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive community for all students. Any student who has made a positive impact towards their community is welcome to this event!
